Lorena contacted the Functional Health Clinic for help with alleviating IBS symptoms related to chronic health challenges that she had been experiencing for the last 4 years.
She’d been diagnosed by her Dr with IBS, but there had been limited progress so far.
The challenge with the IBS term is that it seems really to be a descriptive term. A basic way of naming the group of symptoms you are experiencing.
There’s no real focus on the mechanisms behind them, or the causes.
This is one reason why many people will not solve their symptoms related to IBS.
So – instead, we wanted to come at this from a different perspective. We focussed on a Functional Approach.
We’ll expand with a Case Study in the future, but here is a quick look at the health challenges Lorena was experiencing:
- Abdominal/Intestinal Pain
- Gurgles in stomach.
- Blood sugar control symptoms – feeling weak, hungry and faint.
- Feeling upset
- During Sleep – waking, urinating, “freaking out”.
- Spotting before period.
- PMS every month
- Lumpy and painful breasts (sometimes for the whole month)
- Low energy 3-4/10
- Low libido
- UTIs (related to intercourse)
As you can see – this long list involves not only the gut, but also many other areas and systems of the body too.
During the program, we ran key assessments to help Lorena understand the causes of her challenges and how all the different systems were linked.
Using this Functional Health approach we were able to either Alleviate or Significantly Improve 95% of these symptoms.
Here are Lorena’s thoughts:
“It has been a pleasure working with you. You really helped me find the tools to get better and maintain my health. I will continue to apply all the guidelines you shared as they have been very helpful. I can definitely recommend the program and especially working with you. Your patience and understanding made the conversation effortless and you always find ways to put things into perspective”.
