Probiotic Infatuation

Probiotic Infatuation

Is it always wise to consume probiotic foods and supplements?

This is a bit of a weighted question.

……and the short answer is “no it is not always wise”.

Let’s consider some elements of probiotic infatuation, as there is no such thing as a ‘good’ bug that will give you a guaranteed desired outcome.

So before you take probiotics to fix this and that – consider that there are downsides and disadvantages to adding billions of microbes to your gut flora.

And yes there are upsides and advantages (just refer to the many posts on this trending topic right now).

Q: So, what if you already have high levels of these ‘wonderful’ microbes?Probiotic Infatuation

Q: If your gut is already fermenting – does eating vast quantities of ‘fermented foods’ actually help?

Q: Even if you do establish that you have low levels of these flora – are probiotics and fermented foods the solution?

Keep it simple, with less extreme steps.

Avoidance of the roulette of one-size-fits-all is a good place to start.

Then look for more clues about your actual needs specific to you.

Most the answers are found through careful consideration and application of steps and/or through individual assessment!

Whilst there are fantastic advances in this area of health and vitality, from technology, testing, research and products – that doesn’t mean that:

– reducing ourselves down to solely being a ‘microbiome’,

– putting the blinkers on,

– stopping to ask other vital questions,

– going down the rabbit hole,

– only looking for answers in the minutiae,

– etc….

….is always the most effective approach to take.

In my experience, research and current understanding of human function anyway.

What has been your experience?
